SilTerra's relentless pursuit of operational excellence has led to an increasing demand for its foundry services and a recognition as a world-class wafer manufacturer. It was no surprise that SilTerra won the 2002 Top Fab Award from Semiconductor International.
SilTerra is a dedicated wafer foundry built from a green-field site. The massive 472,000 sq ft facility is highly automated. All the equipment are SMIF-capable. The SMIF (Smart Machine Interface) pods, in which wafers are stored and transported between machines, provide an ultraclean, Class 1 mini-environment for the wafers to ensure extremely low defect density and high yield.
The Computerized Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) System is integrated into the corporate IT infrastructure, providing a seamless and paperless environment. It includes Automated Material Handling Systems (AMHS), Material Control Systems (MCS) and Equipment Interface (EI), helping the facility achieve short cycle time and high line yield.
The facility also boasts a highly integrated Facility Monitoring and Control System (FMCS), Security and Life Safety Systems (LSS) and a vast array of sophisticated Extra Low Voltage Systems (ELVS) designed and installed by CNA for enhancing plant safety, efficiency, productivity, product yield and quality. A high level of safety is provided by a special early warning smoke detection system.
