CNA has successfully clinched the Phase II of the Changi Prison Complex (CPC) Building Management System and Automatic Fire Alarm System at S$3.7 million. CNA which completed the Phase I Building Management System valued at S$3.1 million, has also secured a 3-year maintenance contract for Phase 1.
The redevelopment of CPC is an ongoing project started by the Singapore Prison Service in 2000 and is expected to be completed in 2008. With the completion of the second phase in August 2008, the huge complex will house inmates from 10 other prisons and drug centres throughout the island, including the Sembawang Drug Centre and the Tampines and Queenstown Remand prisons.
The construction of the mega-prison complex, believed to be the world's largest prison project, is part of the Government's long-term goal of centralizing all prison establishments and maximizing the use of resources. Each prison block, which will be equipped with the latest computerized security, fire alarm, remote monitoring and management features, will hold more than 1,000 prisoners.
CNA's package include providing high-end, hot-redundant, fail-safe programmable logic controllers, computer servers and workstations, networking equipment, HMI software, sensors, fire alarm panels, fire detectors as well as integration drivers.
The Singapore Prison Service chose CNA because its proven track record in implementation of robust, fail-safe, industrial-grade building management systems. CNA's ability to integrate with third-party systems through high-level interface was also a key factor. CNA's solution at CPC integrates mechanical and electrical services including fire alarm, lifts, plumbing and air-conditioning as well as provides a vital communication link between the Building Command Centres of Cluster A and B, thereby reducing significantly the manpower needed to manage CPC. |
