Mr Chen was appointed the Independent Non-Executive
Chairman of CNA Group in December 2004. Presently,
he is also the Chairman of Singapore Pools Pte Ltd. Mr
Chen’s career spans across both the government and
private sectors. During his 12 years in the government
service, he served at the Ministries of Defence and
Finance and was the Minister of State for Defence from
1977 to 1981. In the private sector, he was the General
Manager and Director of the Fraser & Neave Group
and subsequently the Chief Executive Officer of Intraco
Ltd. Presently, Mr Chen is a Director of the Singapore
Labour Foundation. In addition, he is the Chairman of
the Archdiocesan Commission for Catholic Schools
of Singapore.
Mr Chen holds a Bachelor of Science
in Chemical Engineering (First Class Honours) from
the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada and a
Master of Public Administration from Harvard University
in the USA.
